May 22, 1998 – October 10, 2017
Saying goodbye to the one who has been by your side for 19 years…it’s impossible. Tommy was a gift to me in the summer of 1998 and in so many other ways since, and he has been my best friend and the companion of my heart. He was by my side through breakups, bad dates, ten different moves, 9/11, the introduction of Tessa to our home (much to Tommy’s chagrin), the merging of households (and cats) with Doug, and countless other regular days over the years. I’ve celebrated every birthday he’s had and cherished the fact that he had been mine for another year. He has given me thousands of kisses, some of which felt like he must surely have broken my nose with the force of his loving headbutts, and his thumpy tail would give him away every time I thought he might be asleep. He’d start campaigning early for dinner but could wake from a deep sleep at 6pm on the dot and know it was dinner time. I hope he knows just how much I love him and will always love him. He’s my very best bear, my old gray Mee, the best gray kitty in all the land. I love you forever, my Tommy boy. Rest in Peace, my heart. We will miss you more than you could every know.
