COVID-19 Facility Guidelines

Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home & Crematory

Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 (2019 Novel Coronavirus) infection, Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home & Crematory is taking additional precautionary measures to protect the health and safety of our community so that we can continue to provide essential services to our families.

We are now requesting that all pet owners contact us by phone before bringing their pet to our facility to discuss the options for services. We will temporarily employ a pet drop-off policy for all appointments including emergencies until further notice.

We can no longer pick up pets from private homes or deliver your pet’s cremains to your home. We will continue to pick up pets from veterinarians’ offices and deliver the cremains back to the vet’s office. Your pet’s cremains can also be shipped to you ($40 additional cost).

If a pet owner has recently traveled to a high-risk country or high-risk region in the United States, had any exposure to symptomatic or confirmed positive cases or is confirmed positive themselves, we ask that you have a healthy family member or friend bring your pet for services.

If you are not exposed or symptomatic and if it is decided that we need to have you enter the facility, while in the lobby area, please maintain a distance of at least 6 feet between you and others. Please Limit the number of people who accompany each pet to the facility to two. Use a hand sanitizer or the client restrooms to wash your hands as needed.

What clients should do and can expect when they arrive at our facility (until further notice):

• Call 540-265-7297 when you arrive in the parking lot.

• A staff member will greet you outside at your vehicle with the necessary forms and bring your pet into the facility for services. We are able to collect information and payment via phone and curbside.

• You will receive a call when your pet is ready for pick up during our normal business hours. Again, please call from the parking lot and we will assist you curbside.

• We continue to keep our facility clean and we disinfect regularly, but the frequency and extent of cleaning have been increased in accordance with CDC recommendations to help prevent exposure and transmission of COVID-19 within our facility. Staff hand-washing and surface disinfection are performed between family visits. We also require that anyone on our team who is not feeling well is required to stay home.

We apologize for the inconvenience to you, but we do this in the best interest of the families we serve and everyone involved until risk levels subside, which we all hope is very soon.
