Goodbye to our sweet Buttons. We had 13 too short years with our girl before congestive heart failure took her suddenly and unexpectedly the morning of October 5, 2022.
Buttons and her brother Lynx were born in the spring of 2009, somewhere near the end of March or first of April so we always celebrate their birthday on March 31. They were born to a stray, and had the good fortune of being found by a friend, Amy Nath, who took them in. Buttons’ mother, Muffin, still lives with Amy today and is enjoying her golden years being loved and pampered. It was October of 2009 and we were only planning to take one of the kittens as our first pet together. Buttons picked Matt soon after we arrived to see the kittens. But we could tell she and Lynx were a bonded pair in the group of kittens, and we could not separate the two, so we came home with two kittens.
Over the next 13 years, we added two dogs and four more cats to our family. Buttons was not thrilled with the additional feline siblings, but she loved her puppies, Pippin and Cannon, and her brother Lynx, who are all missing her greatly. Despite the fact they loved to pick on her and she was not always friendly to them, her other feline siblings Hickory, Chestnut, Sassy, and Indy are missing her very much.
Buttons loved taking walks, going to the garden, laundry time, and couch time. None of these will be the same now without her. Bacon, ham, and shredded chicken were her favorite treats and she would come to the kitchen begging for a small bite anytime we were cooking her favorites. Though her human siblings, Mary Grace, Michael, and Marjorie, are all grown now and she didn’t see them as frequently, Buttons loved when they came home. We will all miss you so much, Button-boo.
Love,
Daddy & Mommy (Matt & Dulcie Hankins)
A special thank you to Dr. Karen Bowman, the greatest vet in the world, for making sure Buttons always had the best care and didn’t have to leave home to get it.
