Toula was taken from us last Wednesday. We didn’t get to be with her as she left this world, nor was her passing peaceful. The hole we have in our hearts is not only deep but also very raw.

Toula would have been 14 years old in November. She had been showing signs of her age and we knew our time with her was growing short. We relished every moment with her.

She was pure joy. She made us smile with every bark and “huff.” Her devotion to “her people” was immeasurable. She had a spunky big dog spirit in a little dog body. She loved with her entire being.

Really know the people who care for your pets while you are away. Even if you have left your pets in their care before, make sure they understand what you expect and what your pet needs.

Toula, we are sorry we failed you. We love you so very much.
