Nemo Gurley was 6 1/2 years old when he peacefully passed away early Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. He was born on June 6, 2019. I named him Nemo after rescuing him from dire and unhealthy conditions. He only weighed 1 lb 9oz; he needed an immediate health assessment and of course, tender loving care. I got his name from the movie “Finding Nemo.” I found him, but he immediately found my heart and me, too.
He was my ride or die for his entire life. We traveled everywhere together; he was my constant shadow and my light, too. He was my emotional support pup, my beloved companion who loved me unconditionally. He loved to lie beside me very close, twisting up in the covers, sometimes making it tough to move around. Nemo was definitely a snuggle bug. We were never apart for very long, and when I returned home, he would greet me with a happy Nemo hello and a helicopter tail, following closely on my heels.
Nemo was a blessing to me in so many ways. He leaves behind many who also loved him, especially my husband, Mark, and my son Drew. He was the grand-dog of Mary Lou Pierce and Millie Gurley. He always warmly greeted strangers and especially children.
Nemo, I miss you so much it hurts. I have cried a river of tears. Thank you for the love, joy, and happiness you gave me. You took a piece of my heart when you passed away. I will always be with you. Until I see you again, run wild, run free, my rebel child, no more pain, sickness, or suffering — you’re in the arms of my angels, until we meet again, my beloved bully boy, Nemo.
